In this workshop Tim Grey looks back at one of his most treasured images and how it came to be, explaining the story behind this particular photograph, what his creative vision for it was, and how he achieved this vision. You’ll see how Tim applied adjustments like converting to black-and-white, adding a color tint, and enhancing contrast, and how he cleaned up the image to make it look the way he wanted it to. And more importantly, you’ll gain insight into the artistic decisions that were made at every step along the way.

In this course you’ll see how Tim Grey created one of his favorite images, an interpretation of a photograph of Japanese prayer sticks.

The contents of this course include:

Getting Started
In this chapter we’ll look at the image that will be the subject of this photo project, review some basic information, and get started with some simple adjustments.
Initial Adjustments
This chapter will focus on the basic adjustments we will apply to our image as we get started realizing a creative vision. These include converting to black-and-white, adding a color tint, and enhancing contrast with a Curves adjustment.
Cleaning Up the Image
In this chapter we’ll turn our attention to cleaning up some of the blemishes and distractions in our photo.
Finishing the Image
In this chapter we’ll finalize the image and experiment with creating a variation that looks more like a painting.
